Forever and Ever
Matching clients to their corresponding names has never been my greatest talent. So last week, when I was handed the winner of February's $2000 shopping spree, I wasn't entirely surprised that I didn't know who she was. Her name had been drawn by one of our good customers (don't worry folks, he had no horse in the race), and naturally, I was excited to reach out to her to tell her the good news.
Across town, trapped in good ol' fashioned bumper to bumper Friday afternoon traffic, our winner was fighting her way home after a long day at work. You don't have to try too hard to imagine that scenario, do you? We all know Atlanta traffic is a beast. You may be reading this whilst parked on a highway somewhere for all I know. However, when Lori arrived home, she found a message from Lauderhills on her voicemail requesting she call asap. Apparently, winning $2000 to spend in a fine jewelry store has the power to erase long days pretty quickly, and that's what it did for Lori.
The following day, Lori and her husband came into the store and recounted how they had shared their good news with friends at the Fish Fry at All Saints. Lori's enthusiasm was contagious and we were all excited that such a bubbly and friendly woman had won the prize. What made the event even more special was witnessing Lori and her husband's sweet relationship. When asked how long they had been married, Lori was able to rattle off the years, months, days, and hours since that day. Surprised by the preciseness of her answer, Geneva asked how she knew how long they had been together so accurately. "Because he tells me every morning," she smiled. Well, for a Valentine's drawing I can't think of any couple who can warm your heart more than that.
